ver.di cabin crew strike at Eurowings in Dusseldorf and Hamburg

The ver.di trade union has announced a strike of its members among the Eurowings cabin crew in Dusseldorf and Hamburg for this Tuesday, 22 November 2016. The strike will take place from 5.00 hours to 20.00 hours (CET).

Long-haul flights as well as flights of Germanwings (4U Flight number), SunExpress and other partner-airlines are not affected by the strike action.

Passengers who have planned a Eurowings flight within the strike period are asked to regularly check the current status of your flight before travelling to the airport.

Passengers who have provided relevant contact details will be notified about any changes via text message or e-mail. Passengers who have booked flights via eurowings.com, can also add and store their personal contact data subsequently in the “My Eurowings” section.


Part 1 – Lufthansa rules for rebooking/reissue/refund for cancelled flights

Customers affected by a Eurowings flight cancellation can rebook once free of charge or have their ticket refunded. You are welcome to make rebookings/reissues/refunds for cancelled Eurowings flights yourself in accordance with the Lufthansa Standard INVOL rules. You can make the refund on an involuntary basis directly in your GDS. No approval/waiver from your respective Lufthansa Group representative is required.

Please note: The Lufthansa Standard INVOL rules only apply to flights which have already been cancelled. For all other flights, the goodwill rules apply.

Part 2 – Goodwill policy for rebooking/reissue of flights which are not cancelled – no refund permitted

Any passenger with a booked Lufthansa/SWISS/Austrian Airlines/Brussels Airlines continental flight on LH/LX/WK/OS/SN/EW/4U document from/to/via Dusseldorf or Hamburg on 22 November 2016, whose flight is not cancelled and whose ticket was issued up to and including 21 November 2016, may rebook once free of charge.

The following rules apply to these rebookings:

  • Rebooking on an alternative Lufthansa Group flight/connection (flight number and operated by: LH, LX, WK, OS, SN, EW, 4U) – in the original booking class or alternatively or in the lowest available booking class within the same compartment

  • New travel date no later than 21 January 2017

  • The change of origin/destination is not permitted. Exception: rebooking/reissue to an alternative nearby departure/destination airport within Germany, e.g. DUS instead of CGN, HAM instead of HAJ.

  • In the case of reissues the endorsement entry should read: 1416

  • You are welcome to make rebookings/reissues of EW flights on LH document yourself. Please note that an approval/waiver from your Lufthansa Group Team is mandatory.

For refunds of tickets that are not affected by flight cancellations, the fare conditions apply.
