Frankfurt Airport: Increase of the minimum connecting time (MCT) to 60 minutes

Effective 30 March 2025, the minimum connecting time (MCT) for Lufthansa flights at Frankfurt Airport will be adjusted to the standard of 60 minutes. The previous exception, which allowed a minimum connecting time of 45 to 50 minutes, no longer applies to the affected flights.

The change affects the following transfer connections:

  • From an intra-European flight to another intra-European flight
  • From a Schengen flight to the USA
  • From a Schengen flight to Singapore
  • From a Schengen flight to South Africa

The change to the minimum connecting time will be implemented in all reservation systems and applied to all availability displays as of 12 September 2024.

The SKCHG/INVOL policy applies to bookings made/tickets issued up to and including 11 September 2024, which are below the new minimum connecting time.

Lufthansa will rebook the affected PNRs (mostly the feeder flights) starting 12 September 2024. These PNRs will be added to your queue with UN/TK.

If technically possible, the tickets will be revalidated automatically.

We welcome you to make rebookings/reissues/refunds for affected flights on Austrian Airlines/Brussels Airlines/Lufthansa/SWISS tickets yourself in accordance with the Schedule Change/Irregularity Policy for Travel Agents (OS/SN/LH/LX ).

If a booking made before 12 September 2024 no longer meets the new minimum connecting time but has not been proactively rebooked by Lufthansa (UN/TK), please contact your Lufthansa Group Agency Support.

For new bookings and rebookings for travel starting 30 March 2025, please ensure that you comply with the new minimum connecting time.
