Simplified reconfirmation process for bookings affected by flight cancellations
The Lufthansa Group airlines flight schedule for summer 2020 will be published shortly and will include additional flight cancellations. As a part of this process, Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa and SWISS will request confirmation from all passengers affected by flight cancellations that they wish to use the new and/or remaining flights as booked. In doing so, an SSR element ("SSR OTHS YY ATTN SCHED CHANGE/ PLS VERIFY IF PAX STILL TRVLG/THEN INSERT OSI YY PAX DEF TRVLG/ OR REBOOK NEW FLIGHT SEGMENT") will be entered into all PNRs in which at least one flight segment is cancelled and/or automatically rebooked.
To make it easier for you to reconfirm bookings affected by flight cancellations, we have made a technical improvement. You will only need to enter an OSI element if the PNR is to remain active, but has not yet been processed. Please note: After entering an OSI element, the ticket can of course still be used for a reissue based on the goodwill rules or Flight irregularities policy.
Does the traveler want to use the remaining flights as booked?
- As part of your standard process for handling flight irregularities, there is no additional work necessary, provided you book at least one new flight segment. In this case, you no longer need to enter an OSI element ("PAX DEF TRVLG")
- If you have not yet processed the PNR in your standard handling process, please confirm the booking within the deadline by entering an OSI element ("PAX DEF TRVLG")
Does the traveler no longer wish to use the remaining flights as booked?
- The booking will be automatically cancelled after the deadline has passed if no OSI element has been entered or no flight segment has been booked. Nevertheless, we would be grateful if you could clean-up the PNR beforehand (cancellation of the remaining flights and deletion of the inactive segments)
Staggered reconfirmation process according to travel date
In order to further facilitate the reconfirmation** of bookings affected by flight cancellations, we have staggered the confirmation deadline by travel date. This staggered approach applies to Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa and SWISS PNRs:
- For PNRs with a travel date up to 31 August 2020, reconfirmation must be made within 21 days after the flight cancellation
- For PNRs with a travel date on/after 1 September 2020, reconfirmation must be made within 42 days after flight cancellation
The OS/LH/LX reconfirmation process will now also be activated for customers who have booked their flights directly with Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa or SWISS.

Brussels Airlines also requires passengers affected by flight cancellations to reconfirm their intention to travel as booked within 21 days. Please familiarize yourself with this process in order to process PNRs affected by flight irregularities for your customers flying on Brussels Airlines.
