TWP2605: Strike announcement at Lufthansa by Vereinigung Cockpit for 12 and 13 March 2026

The pilots' union Vereinigung Cockpit (VC) has announced a strike at Lufthansa (LH) at short notice for Thursday, 12 March and Friday, 13 March 2026, as well as a full-day-strike at Lufthansa Cityline (CL) on Thursday, 12 March 2026.

Lufthansa has published a special flight schedule for both days. More than 50 percent of the originally planned flight program can be offered on Thursday and Friday. For long-haul connections, the proportion is as high as 60 percent.

In addition, numerous flights to and from Frankfurt and Munich will be taken over by other airlines of the Lufthansa Group and by partner airlines. Larger aircraft will also be used on the strike days to accommodate more passengers.

However, despite these efforts, flight cancellations are unavoidable. These cancellations will be loaded into the booking systems in the course of today.

Travelers who are affected by an irregularity will be informed accordingly, provided their contact details are stored in the booking.

Please note: Flights operated by Austrian Airlines (OS), Eurowings (EW), SWISS (LX), Air Dolomiti (EN), Discover Airlines (4Y), Edelweiss (WK) and Lufthansa City Airlines (VL) will not be affected by the strike. Note Brussels Airlines (SN) is also expecting strike-related flight schedule disruptions on Thursday, 12 March 2026. Find out more here.

We ask passengers to check the status of their flight before setting out on their journey.

Part 1 – Lufthansa Group rules for rebooking/reissue/refund for cancelled flights

Customers affected by a flight cancellation can rebook once free of charge or have their ticket refunded.

Please note: The Schedule Change/Irregularity Policy only applies to flights which have already been cancelled or which have been automatically rebooked by the airline.

Substitute transport with Deutsche Bahn

In the event of a cancellation of a German domestic Lufthansa flight, travelers may exchange their flight ticket for a Deutsche Bahn ticket free of charge. We recommend making a seat reservation for this on the Deutsche Bahn website. Please note that the ticket is only valid on Deutsche Bahn trains on the day of issue and the following day (except for "City Night Line trains" of Deutsche Bahn).

Important notes regarding short-term flight cancellations

In case of short-term flight cancellations within 48 hours (in select cases: up to 5 days) before departure, no (immediate) UN will be set in the PNR in all cases. In this case, you can do the rebooking/reissue without having to request a waiver.

» To the TWP 2605 (Version 1)

Lufthansa currently expects to largely return to the regular flight schedule from Saturday, 14 March 2026 onwards.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the disproportionate and very short-notice strike announcement.
