Strike of the trade union ver.di at Lufthansa from 20 February (4 a.m. CET) through 21 February 2024 (7.10 a.m. CET)
The trade union ver.di has called on Lufthansa ground staff to go on a warning strike for 27 hours on Tuesday, 20 February 2024 4 a.m. (CET) through Wednesday, 21 February 2024 7.10 a.m. (CET).
Due to the warning strike, Lufthansa currently assumes that around 10 to 20 percent of the flight program will be possible on Tuesday, 20 February 2024. In Frankfurt and Munich, individual long-haul flights such as to Los Angeles, New York, Bangkok and Tokyo as well as selected short and medium-haul flights are planned.
Lufthansa long-haul flights scheduled to depart on Monday, 19 February 2024 after 8 p.m. (CET) will be brought forward as far as possible. These are, for example, the flights to São Paulo, Singapore, Buenos Aires and Cape Town.
We assume that the Lufthansa Group airlines such as Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings and SWISS, as well as Lufthansa CityLine, will be able to fly as regularly as possible. All Discover Airlines flights are also expected to operate as scheduled on 20 February 2024.
Customers who will be affected by an irregularity have already been informed about cancellations on Sunday, 18 February 2024 (provided the contact details are stored in the booking).
We ask passengers to check the status of their flight before setting out on their journey. Travelers are requested to only come to the airport if their flight has not been cancelled. Due to the strike, the rebooking counters are unfortunately not staffed.

Lufthansa Group rules for rebooking/reissue/refund for cancelled flights
Customers affected by a flight cancellation can rebook once free of charge or have their ticket refunded. You are welcome to make rebookings/reissues/refunds for cancelled flights on Austrian Airlines/Brussels Airlines/Lufthansa/SWISS tickets yourself in accordance with the Schedule Change/Irregularity Policy for Travel Agents (OS/SN/LH/LX).
Please note: The Schedule Change/Irregularity Policy only applies to flights which have already been cancelled or which have been automatically rebooked by the airline.
Important notes regarding short-term flight cancellations
In case of short-term flight cancellations within 48 hours (in select cases: up to 5 days) before departure, no (immediate) UN will be set in the PNR in all cases. In this case, you can do the rebooking/reissue without having to request a waiver.

Substitute transportation with Deutsche Bahn
In the event of a cancellation of a domestic Lufthansa flight (or a Lufthansa flight between Germany and Basel or Salzburg), passengers can exchange their ticket into a Deutsche Bahn ticket free of charge. We recommend travelers to make a reservation on the Deutsche Bahn website. Please note that the ticket is only valid on Deutsche Bahn trains on the day of issue and the following day.
Travelers with a connecting flight from Frankfurt or Munich should use this train solution only if their connecting flight is operating.

Lufthansa regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers and will do its utmost to minimize the impact.
