TWP2608: Strike announcement by the pilots' union VC at Lufthansa and Eurowings for 13 and 14 April 2026

The pilots' union Vereinigung Cockpit (VC) has announced a strike at

• Lufthansa (LH) and Lufthansa CityLine (CL) for Monday, 13 April and Tuesday, 24 April 2026
• Eurowings (EW) for Monday, 13 April 2026.

Please note that Eurowings operates two separate flight operations. Only flights operated by Eurowings Germany are affected by the current strike call; flights operated by the European sister company, Eurowings Europe, are not impacted.

Lufthansa and Eurowings are working intensively to keep the impact on passengers as low as possible. We are trying to have as many flights as possible operated by other airlines within the Lufthansa Group and by partner airlines.

However, despite these efforts, flight cancellations are unavoidable. These cancellations will be loaded into the booking systems by Sunday morning, 12 April 2026 (CET) at the latest.

Please note: Flights operated by Austrian Airlines (OS), Brussels Airlines (SN), SWISS (LX), Air Dolomiti (EN), Discover Airlines (4Y), Edelweiss (WK) and Lufthansa City Airlines (VL) will not be affected by the strike.

Travelers who are affected by an irregularity will be informed accordingly, provided their contact details are stored in the booking.

We ask passengers to check the status of their flight before setting out on their journey.

Part 1 – Lufthansa Group rules for rebooking/reissue/refund for cancelled flights

Customers affected by a flight cancellation can rebook once free of charge or have their ticket refunded.

• You are welcome to make rebookings/reissues/refunds for cancelled flights on Austrian Airlines/Brussels Airlines/Lufthansa/SWISS tickets yourself in accordance with the Schedule Change/Irregularity Policy for Travel Agents (OS/SN/LH/LX)
  
  
• You are welcome to make rebookings/reissues/refunds for cancelled flights on Air Dolomiti tickets yourself in accordance with the Rules for handling of long term schedule changes and short term schedule changes (re-bookings / reissues / refunds) in Travel Agency sales (EN)

Please note: The Schedule Change/Irregularity Policy only applies to flights which have already been cancelled or which have been automatically rebooked by the airline.

Substitute transport with Deutsche Bahn

In the event of a cancellation of a German domestic Lufthansa flight, travelers may exchange their flight ticket for a Deutsche Bahn ticket free of charge. We recommend making a seat reservation for this on the Deutsche Bahn website. Please note that the ticket is only valid on Deutsche Bahn trains on the day of issue and the following day (except for "City Night Line trains" of Deutsche Bahn).

Important notes regarding short-term flight cancellations

In case of short-term flight cancellations within 48 hours (in select cases: up to 5 days) before departure, no (immediate) UN will be set in the PNR in all cases. In this case, you can do the rebooking/reissue without having to request a waiver.

Lufthansa currently expects to largely return to the regular flight schedule from Saturday, 11 April 2026 onwards.
